A woman has been injured in a stabbing at a southeast Calgary apartment building, according to police.
The incident occurred on Monday evening at around 7:30 p.m. at an apartment complex located on 17 Avenue S.E. near 36 Street.
According to the Calgary Police Service, the victim, a woman in her 30s, was found with multiple stab wounds and was immediately taken to hospital in serious but stable condition.
Police say the suspect, a man in his 40s, fled the scene before officers arrived. He was later located and taken into custody without incident.
The motive for the stabbing is still under investigation, but police believe the victim and suspect were known to each other.
The area was cordoned off for several hours as police conducted their investigation. Residents of the apartment building were also temporarily evacuated as a precaution.
