Police are on the hunt for suspects involved in a series of violent carjackings in Richmond Hill.
According to authorities, the incidents occurred on Monday evening in the area of Yonge Street and Major Mackenzie Drive. The first carjacking took place around 8:30 p.m., when a man was approached by two suspects while sitting in his vehicle. The suspects allegedly assaulted the man and stole his car before fleeing the scene.
Less than an hour later, a second carjacking occurred in the same area. This time, a woman was approached by two suspects while sitting in her car. The suspects allegedly assaulted her and stole her vehicle before fleeing.
Both victims sustained minor injuries and were treated at the scene by paramedics.
Police have released descriptions of the suspects in hopes of identifying and locating them. The first suspect is described as a white male in his 20s, approximately 5’10” with a medium build and short dark hair. He was last seen wearing a black hoodie and black pants. The second suspect is described as a white male in his 20s, approximately 5’8″ with a medium build and short dark hair. He was last seen wearing a black hoodie and black pants.
Investigators are also looking into the possibility that the two incidents are connected.
