A man was rescued by air after being stranded on an island in Etobicoke Creek on Sunday afternoon.
According to Toronto Fire Services, the man was stranded on a small island in the creek near the intersection of The Westway and Martin Grove Road.
Emergency crews were called to the scene around 2:30 p.m. after receiving reports of a man in distress.
Upon arrival, firefighters found the man stranded on the island, unable to make it back to shore due to the high water levels and strong currents.
A water rescue team was deployed to the scene and a helicopter was called in to assist with the rescue.
After several attempts, the man was successfully airlifted to safety and transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation.
