A driver in Fort Saskatchewan has been charged with multiple offences after a rear-end collision resulted in two individuals being thrown from their motorcycle.
According to police, the incident occurred on Saturday evening at the intersection of Highway 21 and Township Road 540. The driver of a pickup truck allegedly failed to stop and collided with the motorcycle, causing the two riders to be ejected.
Both individuals were transported to hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the pickup truck was not injured.
The 27-year-old driver has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm, impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm, and refusing to provide a breath sample.
Police are reminding drivers to always be aware of their surroundings and to never operate a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
