Riders get back in win column with victory over Bombers

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have bounced back from their previous loss with a triumphant victory over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

The game, which took place on Saturday at Mosaic Stadium, saw the Riders dominate the field with a final score of 23-8.

The Riders’ defense was particularly impressive, holding the Bombers to only one touchdown and a single field goal. This was a stark contrast to their previous game against the Calgary Stampeders, where they allowed 37 points.

Quarterback Cody Fajardo led the Riders’ offense with 222 passing yards and a touchdown. He also rushed for 55 yards, making him the team’s top rusher for the game.

The Riders’ special teams also played a crucial role in their victory, with kicker Brett Lauther making three field goals and punter Jon Ryan averaging 50 yards per punt.

Despite the Bombers’ best efforts, they were unable to keep up with the Riders’ strong performance. Quarterback Zach Collaros, who previously played for the Riders, was unable to lead his team to victory.

This win brings the Riders’ record to 2-2 for the season, while the Bombers fall to 3-1.

The Riders will now have a bye week before facing the Edmonton Elks on August 21st. This will give them time to rest and regroup before their next game.

The team’s head coach, Craig Dickenson, expressed his satisfaction with the win, stating, “We needed this one. We needed to get back in the win column and we did that.”

The Riders’ victory over the Bombers not only boosts their confidence but also solidifies their position in the highly competitive West Division.

Fans can look forward to an exciting season ahead as the Riders continue to showcase their strength and determination on the field.
