A terrifying incident occurred on Stoney Trail in Calgary when a wheel fell off a trailer and struck a windshield on Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Calgary Police Service, the incident happened around 2:30 p.m. on Stoney Trail near the Country Hills Boulevard exit. The wheel, which came off a trailer being towed by a pickup truck, bounced across the median and struck the windshield of a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction.
Thankfully, no one was injured in the incident. The driver of the vehicle hit by the wheel was able to safely pull over to the side of the road and the driver of the pickup truck stopped to assist.
The Calgary Fire Department was called to the scene to clean up debris and ensure the safety of the area. The incident caused some delays on Stoney Trail, but the road was fully reopened by 4 p.m.
The Calgary Police Service is reminding drivers to always ensure their vehicles are properly maintained and that all loads are securely fastened. They also urge drivers to regularly check their tires and to report any concerns to a mechanic.
