A man has been charged after a teenage girl was abducted in Kitchener, according to police.
The incident occurred on Monday evening, when the 15-year-old girl was walking in the area of Fairway Road and Wilson Avenue. She was approached by a man who allegedly forced her into his vehicle and drove away.
The girl was able to escape from the vehicle and ran to a nearby residence for help. The homeowner called 911 and the girl was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Police launched an investigation and were able to identify a suspect. On Tuesday, 25-year-old Kitchener resident, John Smith, was arrested and charged with abduction, forcible confinement, and assault.
Smith appeared in court on Wednesday and was remanded into custody. He is scheduled to appear in court again on Friday.
