A substitute teacher in Ontario has been charged with assault after an incident involving two students.
According to police, the incident occurred at a school in the Peel District School Board on November 25th. The substitute teacher, whose name has not been released, allegedly assaulted two students during class.
The Peel Regional Police Service’s Special Victims Unit launched an investigation after receiving a complaint from the school. The substitute teacher was arrested on December 1st and charged with two counts of assault.
The Peel District School Board has confirmed that the substitute teacher is no longer working at the school and that they are cooperating with the police investigation.
In a statement, the board said, “The safety and well-being of our students is our top priority and we take any allegations of misconduct very seriously.”
The substitute teacher is scheduled to appear in court on January 14th, 2022.
