Police release video of carjacking at Newmarket, Ont. gas station

Newmarket, ON – Police have released surveillance video of a carjacking that took place at a gas station in Newmarket, Ontario.

The incident occurred on Monday, January 18th at around 9:30 p.m. at the Esso gas station located at 1111 Davis Drive. According to York Regional Police, a man approached a woman who was sitting in her vehicle and demanded that she get out. The man then proceeded to get into the driver’s seat and drove away in the victim’s car.

The victim was not physically harmed during the incident, but she was understandably shaken. The suspect is described as a white male in his 30s, approximately 5’10” tall with a medium build. He was wearing a black jacket, black pants, and a black toque at the time of the carjacking.

Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect. They have released surveillance footage of the incident in hopes that someone may recognize the suspect or have information that could lead to his arrest.
