A building in Vancouver’s Mount Pleasant area was completely engulfed by flames on Tuesday evening, causing a chaotic scene and prompting a large emergency response.
The fire broke out at around 6:30 p.m. in a three-story commercial building located on East Broadway near Fraser Street. Witnesses reported seeing thick black smoke billowing from the building and flames shooting out of the windows.
Firefighters arrived on the scene within minutes and immediately began battling the blaze. However, the intensity of the fire made it difficult for them to enter the building and they were forced to fight it from the outside.
