Woman arrested by Winnipeg police found to have injuries; watchdog investigating

A woman has been arrested by Winnipeg police and is now under investigation by the province’s police watchdog after being found with injuries.

According to reports, the woman was taken into custody on Wednesday evening in the area of Main Street and Redwood Avenue. The Winnipeg Police Service has confirmed that the woman was arrested for an outstanding warrant.

Upon arrival at the police station, officers noticed that the woman had visible injuries. As a result, the Independent Investigation Unit (IIU) was notified and has since taken over the investigation.

The IIU is responsible for investigating all serious incidents involving police officers in Manitoba, including those that result in serious injury or death.
