Fatal Fraser Valley ATV crash prompts safety warning

A tragic ATV crash in the Fraser Valley has sparked a safety warning from authorities.

According to reports, the incident occurred on Sunday afternoon in the area of Chilliwack Lake Road and Post Creek Road. The ATV, carrying two riders, lost control and crashed into a tree.

Sadly, one of the riders, a 27-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other rider, a 25-year-old woman, sustained serious injuries and was transported to hospital.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but authorities are urging all ATV riders to take precautions and follow safety guidelines.

Sgt. Krista Vrolyk of the Chilliwack RCMP stated, “ATVs can be a fun and exciting way to explore the outdoors, but they can also be dangerous if not operated safely. We urge all riders to wear appropriate safety gear, follow speed limits, and never ride under the influence of drugs or alcohol.”

In addition, the BC Coroners Service is reminding all ATV riders to be aware of their surroundings and to ride within their skill level.
