Man in hospital, RCMP investigating firearms complaint near Maskwacis

A man has been hospitalized and the RCMP is currently investigating a firearms complaint near Maskwacis, according to authorities.

The incident occurred on Sunday evening, when the RCMP received a report of a man in possession of a firearm in the area of Highway 2A and Township Road 442.

Upon arrival, officers located the man and attempted to make contact with him. However, the man refused to comply with their commands and a confrontation ensued.

During the confrontation, the man sustained injuries and was transported to hospital for treatment. The extent of his injuries is currently unknown.

The RCMP has not released any information about the man’s identity or the nature of the firearms complaint.

The investigation is ongoing and the RCMP is asking anyone with information about the incident to come forward.

Maskwacis is a First Nations community located approximately 100 kilometers south of Edmonton. The area is known for its high crime rate and has been the focus of numerous RCMP investigations in the past.
