A Toronto police officer was injured while responding to a stolen vehicle in North York on Monday evening.
According to authorities, the officer located the stolen vehicle in the area of Jane Street and Finch Avenue West around 6:30 p.m. Upon approaching the vehicle, the suspect attempted to flee, causing the officer to sustain injuries.
The officer was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment and is expected to make a full recovery.
The suspect, identified as 25-year-old John Doe, was arrested and charged with possession of stolen property, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and assaulting a police officer causing bodily harm.
The Toronto Police Service is reminding the public to always report any suspicious activity or stolen vehicles to the authorities. They also urge individuals to never approach or confront suspects themselves, as it can be dangerous.
