A British Columbia family is sharing their inspiring story in hopes of motivating others to participate in the upcoming Tour de Cure event.
The Tour de Cure is an annual cycling event that raises funds for the American Diabetes Association. This year, the event will take place on August 15th in Vancouver, BC.
The family, who wishes to remain anonymous, has a personal connection to the cause. Their daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 10. Since then, they have been actively involved in raising awareness and funds for diabetes research.
According to the family, participating in the Tour de Cure has given their daughter a sense of purpose and motivation. “She loves cycling and being able to do it for a cause that is close to her heart makes it even more meaningful,” they shared.
The family also believes that the event is a great way to bring the community together and create a sense of camaraderie. “It’s amazing to see so many people coming together to support a common cause,” they said.
The Tour de Cure has been a successful event in the past, raising over $33 million for diabetes research and advocacy. This year, the goal is to raise $4 million, with all proceeds going towards finding a cure for diabetes and improving the lives of those affected by the disease.
The event offers various routes for cyclists of all levels, ranging from a 5K family ride to a 100K challenge. Participants can also choose to walk or run instead of cycling.
Registration for the event is now open and the family is encouraging everyone to sign up and join the cause. “Not only will you be supporting a great cause, but you’ll also be challenging yourself and having a great time,” they said.
The family hopes that their story will inspire others to participate in the Tour de Cure and make a difference in the fight against diabetes. “It’s a great feeling to know that you’re making a positive impact in the world,” they added.
