Two individuals have been charged and one suspect is still at large in connection with an attempted murder in Scarborough, according to police.
The incident occurred on Monday, July 12, at around 11:30 p.m. in the area of Markham Road and Lawrence Avenue East. Police responded to reports of gunshots and found a 25-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to a trauma centre in critical condition.
After an investigation, police have charged 21-year-old Jaden Beckford and 20-year-old Javon Beckford with attempted murder, aggravated assault, and numerous firearm-related offences. Both suspects appeared in court on Wednesday, July 14.
Police are also searching for a third suspect, 20-year-old Javon Beckford, who is wanted on the same charges. He is described as 5’10” tall, with a medium build and short black hair. He is considered armed and dangerous, and anyone who sees him is advised not to approach him and to call 911 immediately.
The investigation is ongoing and police are asking anyone with information to come forward. They are also appealing to the public for any surveillance or dashcam footage from the area at the time of the incident.
