3 Toronto police officers hurt while helping with an eviction in city's west end

Three Toronto police officers were injured while assisting with an eviction in the city’s west end on Tuesday morning.

According to Toronto Police, the incident occurred around 9:30 a.m. in the area of Dufferin Street and Bloor Street West. The officers were called to assist with an eviction at a residential building.

During the eviction process, a physical altercation broke out between the officers and the occupants of the unit. As a result, three officers sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The exact nature of the injuries has not been disclosed, but all three officers are expected to make a full recovery.

The occupants of the unit were also taken into custody and are facing charges of assault and obstructing a peace officer.

The incident has sparked concern among residents in the area, with some questioning the use of force by the police during an eviction.

In a statement, Toronto Police Chief James Ramer assured the public that the use of force is always a last resort and that the officers involved followed proper protocol.

“Our officers are trained to use the minimum amount of force necessary to safely resolve a situation,” Ramer said. “We take any use of force seriously and will be conducting a thorough investigation into this incident.”

The Special Investigations Unit has been notified and will be conducting an independent investigation into the incident.

This is a developing story and we will provide updates as more information becomes available.
