Crash on highway in Mississauga leaves man in critical condition

A serious crash on a highway in Mississauga has left a man in critical condition, according to authorities.

The incident occurred on Highway 401 near Hurontario Street on Tuesday evening. Emergency crews were called to the scene around 8:30 p.m.

According to Peel Regional Police, a vehicle was travelling eastbound on the highway when it lost control and struck a concrete barrier. The impact caused the vehicle to roll over and the driver was ejected from the car.

The man, who has not been identified, was rushed to a trauma centre with life-threatening injuries. He remains in critical condition.

Police say no other vehicles were involved in the crash and no other injuries have been reported.

The eastbound lanes of Highway 401 were closed for several hours as police investigated the scene. They have since reopened.
