Police Renew Call for Information on 2021 Gang Killing in Southwest Calgary
The Calgary Police Service is once again appealing to the public for any information regarding a gang-related homicide that occurred in the city’s southwest in 2021.
On January 20, 2021, at approximately 9:30 p.m., police responded to reports of gunshots in the 100 block of Shawville Boulevard S.W. Upon arrival, they found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim, identified as 25-year-old Mohamed Khalifa, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Since then, investigators have been working tirelessly to gather evidence and identify suspects in this case. However, despite their efforts, no arrests have been made.
In a press conference held on Tuesday, Calgary Police Homicide Unit Staff Sergeant Martin Schiavetta stated, “We believe there are people out there who have information about this incident, and we are urging them to come forward and speak with us.”
Schiavetta also emphasized the importance of community cooperation in solving this case, stating, “We cannot do this alone. We need the public’s help to bring justice for Mohamed Khalifa and his family.”
The victim’s family also made a heartfelt plea for anyone with information to come forward. Khalifa’s sister, Fatima Khalifa, stated, “Our family is still grieving the loss of our beloved Mohamed. We urge anyone with information to please come forward and help us find closure.”
The Calgary Police Service is offering a reward of up to $50,000 for any information that leads to an arrest and conviction in this case. They are also reminding the public that any information, no matter how small, could be crucial in solving this homicide.
