A teenager has been charged after Toronto police seized a loaded gun and ammunition in North York.
According to authorities, the incident occurred on Monday evening when officers from the 32 Division Major Crime Unit executed a search warrant at a residence in the area of Jane Street and Sheppard Avenue West.
During the search, police found a loaded .45 calibre handgun, along with a large quantity of ammunition and a quantity of drugs.
As a result, a 17-year-old male has been charged with multiple firearm-related offences, including possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm and possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized.
The teenager cannot be named due to provisions under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
Police are reminding the public that the possession of illegal firearms and ammunition is a serious offence and can result in severe consequences.
