Calgary Water Main Update: Majority of Pipe Repairs to Take Place on 33 Avenue NW
The City of Calgary has provided an update on the ongoing water main repairs, with 13 out of 21 pipe repairs set to take place on 33 Avenue NW.
According to the city’s Water Services department, the repairs are necessary due to aging infrastructure and to ensure the safety and reliability of the water supply for residents.
The repairs on 33 Avenue NW will affect the area between 19 Street NW and 37 Street NW, with work expected to begin in mid-August and continue until the end of September.
City officials have stated that the repairs will be done in phases to minimize disruption to residents and businesses in the area. However, there may be temporary water disruptions and lane closures during the construction period.
The remaining eight pipe repairs will take place in various locations throughout the city, including 14 Street NW, 17 Avenue SW, and 52 Street SE.
The city has assured residents that they will be notified in advance of any potential disruptions to their water supply. In addition, traffic control measures will be in place to ensure the safety of both workers and the public.
The total cost of the water main repairs is estimated to be $10 million, with funding coming from the city’s Water Services budget.
The City of Calgary is committed to maintaining and upgrading its water infrastructure to ensure the safety and reliability of the water supply for its residents. For more information on the water main repairs and updates, residents can visit the city’s website or contact 311.
