The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) has announced that it will be extending the hours of its call centre following a request from the Office of the Taxpayers’ Ombudsman.
The decision to extend the call centre hours comes after the Ombudsman’s office received numerous complaints from taxpayers about long wait times and difficulty in reaching a CRA representative.
According to the Ombudsman’s office, taxpayers have been facing wait times of up to two hours and have been unable to speak to a representative even after waiting for extended periods of time.
In response to these concerns, the CRA has announced that it will be extending its call centre hours from Monday to Friday, 9 am to 9 pm (local time), starting on October 5th. This extension will provide taxpayers with an additional two hours to reach a CRA representative and seek assistance with their tax-related inquiries.
In a statement, the CRA acknowledged the frustration and inconvenience faced by taxpayers and assured that the extended hours will help alleviate the issue. The agency also encouraged taxpayers to use its online services, which are available 24/7, for faster and more efficient assistance.
The Ombudsman’s office has welcomed the CRA’s decision to extend the call centre hours and hopes that it will improve the overall experience for taxpayers. The office also reminded taxpayers that they can reach out to the Ombudsman’s office for assistance if they continue to face issues with the CRA.
This move by the CRA is a step in the right direction towards providing better service to taxpayers. With the extended call centre hours, taxpayers can now have more flexibility in reaching out to the CRA for assistance with their tax-related matters.
