A Victoria couple is celebrating after winning a whopping $500,000 on a scratch ticket.
The lucky pair, who have chosen to remain anonymous, purchased the winning ticket at a local convenience store in Victoria. They were shocked and overjoyed when they realized they had won the top prize.
According to the British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC), the couple plans to use their winnings to pay off their mortgage and take a much-needed vacation.
The BCLC also reports that the winning ticket was part of the “Set for Life” scratch and win game, which offers players the chance to win up to $1,000 a week for 25 years.
The couple’s win is just the latest in a string of big lottery wins in British Columbia. In 2020 alone, there were 39 lottery winners who took home prizes of $1 million or more.
