A devastating fire has caused extensive damage to a home near Alberta Avenue in Edmonton.
The fire broke out in the early hours of the morning, with multiple fire crews responding to the scene. The home, located on 118 Avenue and 92 Street, was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived.
According to Edmonton Fire Rescue Services, the fire was so intense that it spread to a neighboring home, causing damage to its exterior. Fortunately, all occupants of both homes were able to safely evacuate and no injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but initial reports suggest that it may have started in the basement of the home. Firefighters were able to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading further, but the damage to the home is extensive.
The homeowner, who wishes to remain anonymous, expressed their shock and devastation at the loss of their home. They are currently being assisted by the Red Cross and are receiving support from their community.
The fire has also caused disruptions to traffic in the area, with 118 Avenue being closed between 90 Street and 95 Street. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and find alternate routes.
