Two individuals have been rushed to the hospital with severe injuries following a house fire in Etobicoke.
Emergency services were called to the scene on Wednesday evening, where they found the house on fire and two people in need of medical attention.
According to Toronto Fire Services, the fire was quickly brought under control and contained to the main floor of the house. However, the two individuals inside the home suffered serious injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and there is no word yet on the extent of the damage to the property.
Neighbours reported hearing loud noises and seeing smoke coming from the house before emergency services arrived. They also mentioned that the two individuals living in the house were known to be elderly and lived alone.
The Toronto Fire Services is reminding the public to always have working smoke alarms in their homes and to have an escape plan in case of a fire.
This is a developing story, and we will provide updates as more information becomes available.
