A driver has been seriously injured in a rollover on Highway 17, according to Delta Police.
The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon, when police received multiple reports of a single-vehicle collision on the highway near the Highway 91 interchange.
Upon arrival, officers found a vehicle that had rolled over and come to rest on its roof. The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was trapped inside and had sustained serious injuries.
Emergency services were immediately called to the scene and the driver was extricated from the vehicle. They were then transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The cause of the rollover is still under investigation, but police believe that speed may have been a factor. The highway was closed for several hours as officers gathered evidence and cleared the scene.
Delta Police are reminding drivers to always obey the speed limit and drive with caution, especially during inclement weather conditions.
