RCMP in Northern Alberta are currently searching for a missing hiker, according to a recent report.
The hiker, whose identity has not been disclosed, was last seen on Sunday afternoon in the area of the Athabasca Pass Trail, located in the Rocky Mountains near the border of Alberta and British Columbia.
Authorities were alerted to the situation when the hiker failed to return to their designated meeting point. A search and rescue operation was immediately launched, with assistance from Parks Canada and local volunteers.
The hiker is described as a Caucasian male in his mid-30s, approximately 6 feet tall with a medium build. He was last seen wearing a red jacket, black pants, and a black backpack.
RCMP are urging anyone who may have seen the hiker or has any information on his whereabouts to come forward. They are also reminding hikers to always be prepared when venturing into the wilderness, including informing others of their plans and carrying proper equipment.
The search is ongoing and authorities are asking the public to avoid the area while the operation is underway. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the local RCMP detachment or Crime Stoppers.
