The city of Edmonton, Alberta was in the spotlight as several of its iconic landmarks were featured in the season 10 finale of the popular reality TV show, The Amazing Race Canada.
The finale, which aired on CTV on Tuesday night, saw the remaining teams race through the city, completing challenges at various locations before crossing the finish line at the iconic Alberta Legislature Building.
One of the challenges took place at the Muttart Conservatory, where teams had to navigate through the botanical gardens and correctly identify different plant species in order to receive their next clue.
Another challenge took place at the TELUS World of Science, where teams had to complete a virtual reality simulation of a spacewalk before moving on to their next task.
The finale also showcased the city’s vibrant arts and culture scene, with teams having to perform a dance routine at the Winspear Centre and create a piece of street art at the Edmonton Fringe Festival.
The final leg of the race also highlighted Edmonton’s rich history and heritage, with teams having to search for clues at the Fort Edmonton Park and complete a challenge at the Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village.
The season 10 winners, siblings Taylor and Courtney Callens, were ecstatic to have crossed the finish line in their hometown of Edmonton. “It’s amazing to be able to showcase our city and all the amazing things it has to offer,” said Courtney.
The Amazing Race Canada has been a hit with viewers since its debut in 2013, with each season featuring different Canadian destinations and landmarks. The show not only provides entertainment but also promotes tourism and highlights the unique features of each location.
