A recent survey conducted by the Canadian Council of Chief Executives (CCCE) has revealed that a majority of Canadian CEOs are deeply concerned about the impact of climate change on their businesses. The survey, which was conducted in partnership with the Conference Board of Canada, found that 86% of CEOs worry about climate change “all or most of the time.”
The survey, which included responses from 150 CEOs across various industries, sheds light on the growing concern among business leaders about the effects of climate change. According to the CCCE, this is the first time such a survey has been conducted, making it a significant milestone in understanding the views of Canadian CEOs on this pressing issue.
The results of the survey show that CEOs are not only worried about the environmental impact of climate change, but also the potential economic consequences. 83% of respondents stated that they believe climate change will have a negative impact on their businesses, with 40% saying it will have a “significant” impact.
The survey also revealed that CEOs are taking action to address climate change within their organizations. 70% of respondents said they have implemented measures to reduce their carbon footprint, such as investing in renewable energy sources and implementing energy-efficient practices.
However, despite their concerns and efforts, CEOs feel that more needs to be done at a government level. 80% of respondents said they believe the Canadian government should take stronger action to address climate change, with 60% stating that they would support a carbon tax.
The CCCE hopes that the results of this survey will encourage more dialogue and action on climate change among business leaders and government officials. “CEOs are deeply concerned about the impact of climate change on their businesses and the economy as a whole,” said Goldy Hyder, President and CEO of the CCCE. “It is clear that we need to work together to find solutions and take action to mitigate the effects of climate change.”
The survey also highlights the growing trend of businesses recognizing the importance of sustainability and taking steps to reduce their environmental impact. As the effects of climate change continue to be felt around the world, it is crucial for businesses to play a role in addressing this global issue.
