Two individuals were left with serious injuries after a fiery rollover outside Humber River Hospital in Toronto on Monday evening.
According to Toronto police, the incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. in the hospital’s parking lot. A vehicle was seen speeding through the lot before losing control and flipping over, eventually catching fire.
Emergency services were quickly dispatched to the scene and were able to extinguish the flames. The two occupants of the vehicle, a man and a woman, were extracted from the wreckage and transported to a nearby trauma center with serious injuries.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but witnesses reported seeing the vehicle driving erratically before the accident. It is unclear at this time if alcohol or drugs were a factor.
The parking lot was temporarily closed off as police conducted their investigation and the vehicle was removed from the scene.
Humber River Hospital released a statement expressing their concern for the injured individuals and their families. They also reassured the public that the incident did not affect the hospital’s operations.
