United Way shoots for $980K, launches Harvest Lunch

Real True News

The United Way of Leeds and Grenville has set its sights on a fundraising goal of $980,000 for the upcoming year. The organization officially launched its annual campaign with a Harvest Lunch event on Thursday, September 9th.

The Harvest Lunch, held at the Brockville Country Club, brought together community members, local businesses, and United Way supporters to kick off the fundraising efforts. Attendees were treated to a delicious meal prepared by the club’s chef, as well as inspiring speeches from United Way representatives and community leaders.

The $980,000 goal is a significant increase from last year’s campaign, which raised $920,000. However, United Way Executive Director Trish Buote is confident that the community will come together to support those in need.

“We know that the need in our community is great, and we are determined to meet this ambitious goal,” said Buote. “Every dollar raised will go towards supporting vital programs and services that help improve the lives of our most vulnerable community members.”

The United Way of Leeds and Grenville supports over 20 local agencies and programs, including food banks, mental health services, and youth programs. These organizations rely on the United Way’s fundraising efforts to continue providing essential services to those in need.

The Harvest Lunch also served as an opportunity to recognize the generosity of local businesses and individuals who have already pledged their support to the campaign. The United Way’s annual fundraising efforts would not be possible without the support of these dedicated community members.

As the campaign officially begins, the United Way is encouraging individuals and businesses to get involved and make a difference in their community. Donations can be made online, through workplace campaigns, or by attending one of the many fundraising events planned throughout the year.

The United Way of Leeds and Grenville is committed to making a positive impact in the community, and with the support of the community, they are confident in reaching their fundraising goal. Together, we can make a difference and help those in need.
