Police have released images of a suspect vehicle after a woman was found shot in a car in Mississauga on Monday evening.
According to Peel Regional Police, officers responded to a call about a shooting in the area of Hurontario Street and Eglinton Avenue just before 7 p.m. Upon arrival, they found a woman inside a vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound.
The victim, who has not been identified, was rushed to a trauma centre in critical condition. As of Tuesday morning, she remains in hospital with life-threatening injuries.
In a news release, police said they are now searching for a suspect vehicle, described as a dark-coloured sedan, possibly a Honda Civic or Accord. They have released images of the vehicle captured by surveillance cameras in the area.
Investigators are also appealing to anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the shooting to come forward with any information or dashcam footage that could assist in the investigation.
The motive for the shooting is still unknown and police have not yet made any arrests. They are urging the public to avoid the area as they continue to gather evidence.
