An Alberta woman tragically lost her life in a car crash on a Saskatchewan highway on Monday evening.
According to the Saskatchewan RCMP, the incident occurred on Highway 1 near the town of Gull Lake, approximately 300 kilometers west of Regina.
The 35-year-old woman was driving eastbound when her vehicle collided with a semi-truck traveling in the opposite direction. The impact of the crash caused the woman’s vehicle to roll over and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the semi-truck was not injured in the collision.
The identity of the victim has not been released at this time, pending notification of next of kin.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but police have stated that road conditions were poor at the time of the incident.
Highway 1 was closed for several hours while emergency crews responded to the scene and conducted their investigation. It has since been reopened to traffic.
