Girl, 9, sets out to play all Kelowna's Pianos in the Park

Nine-year-old Lily Johnson has set out on a musical mission to play all of Kelowna’s pianos in the park. With a passion for music and a love for the outdoors, Lily has taken on the challenge of playing every piano in the city’s parks.

It all started when Lily’s family took a stroll through City Park and stumbled upon a piano. Lily, who has been playing the piano since she was four years old, couldn’t resist the opportunity to play a few tunes. Her parents were amazed by her talent and suggested she try playing all the pianos in the park.

Lily eagerly accepted the challenge and began her journey to tick off all the pianos in Kelowna’s parks. She has already played at five different locations, including City Park, Waterfront Park, and Kerry Park. Each piano has its own unique sound and Lily enjoys the challenge of adapting her playing style to each one.

Not only is Lily showcasing her musical skills, but she is also raising awareness for the importance of public pianos in parks. These pianos, which are donated by the Rotary Club of Kelowna, provide a free and accessible way for people to enjoy music in the outdoors.

Lily’s parents are proud of her determination and passion for music. They believe that this challenge has not only improved her piano skills but also her confidence and social skills as she interacts with people who stop to listen to her play.

Lily’s goal is to play all 12 pianos in Kelowna’s parks by the end of the summer. She hopes to inspire others to take on their own challenges and spread the joy of music in the community.

So, if you happen to be strolling through a park in Kelowna and hear the sweet melodies of a piano, it’s likely that Lily is on her mission to play all the pianos in the park. Keep an eye out for this talented young musician and be sure to stop and listen to her play.
