A Toronto-area man is facing serious charges of sexual assault for two separate incidents that occurred in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).
According to police, the first incident took place on October 10, 2021, in the area of Yonge Street and Finch Avenue. The victim, a 25-year-old woman, reported that she was sexually assaulted by a man she had met online.
The second incident occurred on October 15, 2021, in the area of Bayview Avenue and Sheppard Avenue. The victim, a 32-year-old woman, reported that she was sexually assaulted by a man she had met through a dating app.
After thorough investigations, 29-year-old John Smith was arrested and charged with two counts of sexual assault. He appeared in court on October 18, 2021, and has been remanded into custody.
Police are urging anyone who may have had contact with John Smith through online dating platforms to come forward and report any suspicious or concerning behavior.
