One person rescued from fire at apartment building in Scarborough

A person has been rescued from a fire that broke out at an apartment building in Scarborough on Monday evening.

According to Toronto Fire Services, the fire started on the 10th floor of the building located at 100 Dundalk Drive, near Kennedy Road and Lawrence Avenue East.

Emergency crews were called to the scene around 6:30 p.m. and quickly worked to evacuate the building and contain the fire.

One person was rescued from the building and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Their condition is currently unknown.

The fire was eventually brought under control and residents were allowed to return to their units, except for those on the 10th floor where the fire originated.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation and the extent of the damage is yet to be determined.

Toronto Fire Services is reminding residents to always have working smoke alarms in their homes and to have an escape plan in case of a fire.
