A pedestrian was rushed to the hospital after being struck by a vehicle in North York on Monday evening.

According to Toronto police, the incident occurred at the intersection of Yonge Street and Finch Avenue around 6:30 p.m.

The pedestrian, whose identity has not been released, was reportedly crossing the street when they were hit by a vehicle. The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with authorities.

Emergency services arrived at the scene and transported the pedestrian to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. The extent of their injuries is currently unknown.

The intersection was closed for several hours as police investigated the incident. It has since been reopened to traffic.

This is not the first time a pedestrian has been struck by a vehicle in this area. In October, a 62-year-old woman was killed after being hit by a truck at the same intersection.

Authorities are reminding both drivers and pedestrians to exercise caution and follow traffic laws to prevent similar incidents from occurring.
