Kelowna’s JoeAnna’s House, a home away from home for families of patients receiving medical care at Kelowna General Hospital, is expanding to meet the growing need in the community.
The expansion project, which began in 2019, is set to add 20 new guest rooms to the existing facility, bringing the total number of rooms to 35. This will allow JoeAnna’s House to accommodate up to 1,000 families each year, providing them with a comfortable and supportive place to stay while their loved ones receive treatment.
According to Janice Perrino, CEO of the KGH Foundation, the need for JoeAnna’s House has only increased since its opening in 2019. “We have seen a steady increase in the number of families seeking accommodation at JoeAnna’s House,” Perrino stated. “This expansion will allow us to meet that demand and continue to provide a home away from home for those who need it most.”
The expansion project is made possible by the generous support of the community, with over $8 million raised through donations and fundraising efforts. The KGH Foundation is also working closely with the Interior Health Authority to ensure the new rooms meet the needs of families and patients.
