Tragedy struck a quiet neighborhood in Courtice, Ontario as police discovered two deceased individuals inside a home on Monday morning.
According to Durham Regional Police, officers were called to the residence on Sandringham Drive around 9:30 a.m. for a welfare check. Upon arrival, they found two bodies inside the home.
The identities of the deceased have not been released, pending notification of next of kin. However, police have confirmed that the victims are a man and a woman.
At this time, the cause of death is unknown and police are treating the incident as suspicious. The Homicide Unit has been called in to investigate.
Neighbors in the area were shocked and saddened by the news, describing the neighborhood as a peaceful and close-knit community.
“I can’t believe something like this could happen here,” said one resident, who wished to remain anonymous. “It’s a quiet neighborhood, we never have any issues.”
