Durham Region woman wanted for child abduction arrested in Saskatchewan; 3 sons found safe

A Durham Region woman who was wanted for child abduction has been arrested in Saskatchewan, and her three sons have been found safe.

According to Durham Regional Police, the woman, who cannot be named to protect the identity of the children, was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for abduction and breach of a court order.

The incident began on November 4, when the woman failed to return her three sons, aged 9, 10, and 11, to their father after a scheduled visit. The father then contacted police, who launched an investigation and issued the warrant for the woman’s arrest.

After receiving information that the woman and her children may be in Saskatchewan, Durham police contacted the RCMP and requested their assistance in locating the family.

On November 9, the RCMP located the woman and her sons in a hotel in Regina, Saskatchewan. The woman was arrested without incident and the children were found to be safe and unharmed.

The woman is currently in custody and will be transported back to Durham Region to face charges of abduction and breach of a court order.

Durham police have expressed their gratitude to the RCMP for their swift and successful assistance in locating the woman and her children.

The three boys have been reunited with their father and are receiving support from victim services.
