A Winnipeg woman has been charged in connection with two separate stabbings that occurred in the city.
According to police, the first incident took place on December 28, 2020, when a 32-year-old woman was stabbed multiple times in the upper body. The victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition but has since been upgraded to stable.
The second stabbing occurred on January 2, 2021, when a 45-year-old man was stabbed in the upper body. He was also taken to the hospital in critical condition and remains in stable condition.
After an investigation, 33-year-old Samantha Smith was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault. She is currently in police custody.
Police have not released any information on the relationship between Smith and the victims, or a possible motive for the stabbings.
This is not the first time Smith has been in trouble with the law. In 2019, she was charged with assault with a weapon and uttering threats. Those charges were later stayed.
Anyone with information about these incidents is asked to contact the Winnipeg Police Service or Crime Stoppers.
