An investigation is currently underway into a fatal collision that occurred on Friday night in southeast Calgary.
According to the Calgary Police Service, the collision took place at the intersection of 52 Street and 130 Avenue SE at around 9:30 p.m. on Friday. Emergency crews were called to the scene and found two vehicles involved in the collision.
One of the drivers, a 35-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver, a 28-year-old woman, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The Calgary Police Service’s Traffic Section is leading the investigation and is asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has information about the events leading up to it to come forward.
At this time, it is unclear what caused the collision and if any charges will be laid. The identities of the drivers have not been released.
The intersection was closed for several hours as investigators gathered evidence and cleared the scene. It has since been reopened to traffic.
