Hurricane Milton has caused widespread destruction and power outages in Florida, prompting Hydro One to send 150 crew members to assist with the recovery efforts.
The powerful hurricane made landfall in Florida on Tuesday, leaving behind a trail of destruction and leaving millions without power. In response, Hydro One, a Canadian electricity company, has announced that they will be sending 150 crew members to Florida to help restore power to affected areas.
According to Hydro One, the crew members will be departing from Toronto and will be equipped with specialized equipment and vehicles to assist with the restoration efforts. They will be joining other utility companies from across North America to help restore power to the affected areas.
“We are committed to helping our neighbors in Florida during this difficult time,” said Mark Poweska, President and CEO of Hydro One. “Our highly trained crew members are ready to assist in any way possible to help restore power to those who have been impacted by Hurricane Milton.”
Hydro One has a long history of providing assistance during natural disasters, both in Canada and the United States. In 2017, they sent crews to Florida to help with the aftermath of Hurricane Irma, and in 2018, they provided support to Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria.
The crew members will be working closely with local utility companies to assess the damage and restore power as quickly and safely as possible. Hydro One has assured that they will continue to monitor the situation and provide additional support if needed.
In addition to sending crew members, Hydro One has also donated $25,000 to the American Red Cross to support their relief efforts in Florida.
As the recovery efforts continue, Hydro One urges everyone to stay safe and follow the instructions of local authorities. They also remind customers to report any downed power lines or outages to their local utility company.
