GANANOQUE – Local physicians and healthcare professionals gathered at the Gananoque Town Hall on Tuesday evening for an information session on physician incentive planning.
The session, organized by the Gananoque and District Physician Recruitment and Retention Committee, aimed to provide valuable information and resources for physicians looking to establish their practice in the area.
The event began with a welcome address from Mayor Ted Lojko, who emphasized the importance of attracting and retaining physicians in the community.
“We are committed to ensuring that our residents have access to quality healthcare services,” said Mayor Lojko. “Physicians play a crucial role in our community, and we are grateful for their dedication and service.”
The session then moved on to a presentation by Dr. Sarah Smith, a local physician and member of the recruitment and retention committee. Dr. Smith shared her personal experience of establishing her practice in Gananoque and highlighted the benefits of practicing in a smaller community.
“Being a physician in a small town allows for a more personal and fulfilling relationship with patients,” said Dr. Smith. “It also provides a better work-life balance and a sense of community that is hard to find in larger cities.”
The presentation also covered the various incentives and support programs available for physicians in Gananoque, such as the Physician Recruitment and Retention Fund and the Rural and Northern Physician Group Agreement.
Following the presentation, attendees had the opportunity to ask questions and engage in a discussion with the recruitment and retention committee members.
“We are here to support and assist physicians in any way we can,” said committee member Jane Brown. “We want to make the process of establishing a practice in Gananoque as smooth and seamless as possible.”
The session concluded with a networking session, allowing physicians to connect with each other and with members of the committee.
Overall, the information session was a success, providing valuable insights and resources for physicians considering Gananoque as their practice location. The recruitment and retention committee will continue to work towards attracting and retaining physicians in the community, ensuring that residents have access to quality healthcare services.
