Girl, 13, charged for allegedly making threats with knife during fight with another girl in Oshawa

A 13-year-old girl has been charged after allegedly making threats with a knife during a fight with another girl in Oshawa.

According to Durham Regional Police, the incident occurred on Monday afternoon near a school in the area of Harmony Road North and Taunton Road East.

Police say the two girls, both 13 years old, were involved in a physical altercation when one of them pulled out a knife and made threats towards the other.

The altercation was broken up by witnesses and the girl with the knife was taken into custody by police.

She has been charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.

The other girl involved in the fight did not sustain any injuries.

Police are reminding parents to speak to their children about the dangers of carrying weapons and the serious consequences that can result from such actions.

The 13-year-old girl cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
