Worker in critical condition after collision on Eastbound Hwy. 403 in Burlington

A worker is currently in critical condition after a collision on eastbound Highway 403 in Burlington, according to authorities.

The incident occurred on Monday morning, around 9:30 a.m., near Waterdown Road. The worker, who has not been identified, was struck by a vehicle while working on the highway.

Emergency services were immediately called to the scene and the worker was transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

The eastbound lanes of Highway 403 were closed for several hours as police conducted their investigation. The lanes have since been reopened.

The Ministry of Labour has been notified and will be conducting their own investigation into the incident.

This is not the first time a worker has been injured on this stretch of highway. In 2019, a worker was struck and killed while performing maintenance work on the highway.
