A pedestrian is currently in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle in Longueuil, according to local authorities.
The incident occurred on Wednesday evening at the intersection of Saint-Charles Street and Saint-Jean Street. The Longueuil police department received a call at approximately 7:30 p.m. reporting a collision between a pedestrian and a vehicle.
Upon arrival, emergency responders found a male pedestrian in his 50s lying on the ground with serious injuries. He was immediately transported to a nearby hospital where he remains in critical condition.
The driver of the vehicle involved in the collision remained at the scene and is cooperating with the police investigation. According to witnesses, the driver was making a left turn when the pedestrian was struck.
The intersection where the incident occurred was closed for several hours as police conducted their investigation. It has since been reopened to traffic.
