A nationwide recall has been issued for a popular pasta sauce due to potential health risks. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has announced that the Seasoned Chicken and Mushroom Pasta Sauce, produced by a company called “The Pasta Shoppe”, may contain dangerous bacteria.
The recall was initiated after a routine inspection by the CFIA found that the sauce may contain Clostridium botulinum, a bacteria that can cause botulism. Botulism is a serious illness that can lead to paralysis, difficulty breathing, and even death.
The affected product was sold in 500 ml jars with a best before date of October 2022. It was distributed across Canada and may have been purchased at various grocery stores.
Consumers are advised to immediately stop using the product and either throw it away or return it to the store where it was purchased. The CFIA is also warning restaurants and food service establishments not to serve the sauce.
