Nanaimo RCMP Warn Public After Indecent Exposure Incident on Hiking Trail
The Nanaimo RCMP has issued a warning to the public after an indecent exposure incident occurred on a popular hiking trail.
According to the police, the incident took place on the Linley Valley Cottle Lake Park trail on Monday afternoon. A woman reported that a man had exposed himself to her while she was walking on the trail.
The suspect is described as a Caucasian man in his 30s, approximately 5’10” tall with a medium build and short dark hair. He was wearing a black hoodie, black sweatpants, and black running shoes at the time of the incident.
The woman was able to take a photo of the suspect before he fled the scene. The photo has been released to the public in hopes of identifying the suspect.
The Nanaimo RCMP is urging anyone who may have information about the incident or the suspect to come forward. They are also reminding the public to be aware of their surroundings and to report any suspicious activity to the police.
Sgt. Jon Stuart of the Nanaimo RCMP stated, “We take these types of incidents very seriously and are actively investigating this matter. We are asking anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the incident to come forward with any information they may have.”
The Linley Valley Cottle Lake Park trail is a popular spot for hikers and dog walkers, and the incident has left many in the community feeling concerned and uneasy.
The Nanaimo RCMP is asking anyone who may have been in the area between 2:30 and 3:30 p.m. on Monday to contact them at 250-754-2345. They are also reminding the public to always be aware of their surroundings and to report any suspicious activity to the police.
In the meantime, the police are increasing patrols in the area and are asking the public to remain vigilant while enjoying the trails.
