“I wanted to capture the essence of youth and the bittersweet feeling of growing up,” de Souza says. “The idea of something being ephemeral, or temporary, is something that has always fascinated me. And I think that’s especially true when it comes to youth and the coming of age.”
Through his illustrations, de Souza captures the nostalgia and vulnerability of youth, while also highlighting the excitement and uncertainty of entering adulthood. His use of vibrant colors and intricate details adds depth and emotion to each piece, making them truly captivating.

“I think there’s a lot of pressure on young people to have their lives figured out and be successful at a young age,” de Souza says. “But the reality is, it takes time to find your path and figure out who you are. And that’s okay.”
